Military 101

Cory Remsburg

In November 2016, Cory Remsburg and his parents joined CISS for a Military 101 luncheon about wounded veterans. Cory, an Army Ranger, was severely wounded while serving in Afghanistan.

The Military 101 Lunch-timer series raises awareness and understanding of what services the military and its respective branches provide for our country’s national security and provides a background in basic “military literacy” for students who would like to learn more about the military, but may not have the background to feel comfortable with military terminology, operations, and culture.

Current undergraduates, SPIA Masters students, and PhD students with military and defense experience present monthly talks focusing on different aspects of military organization, culture, and operations. The series also offers an annual Veterans Day observance and program in November.
